Dec 2019: 2 MiG-29UB (9-51) from Russian Federation (18 50)

Dec 2021: 4 MiG-29UB (9-51) from Russian Federation (10 12 70 88)

Mongolia has not had any modern aircraft for many years, so the delivery from Russia was a surprise. Two aircraft were delivered in December 2019, followed by four more two years later in December 2021. All of them are MiG-29UB trainer-combat aircraft, indicating that Mongolia plans to significantly expand its air force.

Camouflage and painting

Aircraft are not new. Certainly some (70 RF-92765, 88 RF-92763) come from the training center in Кущёвская (Kushchyovskaya) of the 797th Training Air Regiment (UAP) of the Krasnodar High Military Aviation School of Airmen (Краснодарское высшее военное авиационное училище лётчиков, KVVAUL), to where Yakovlev Yak-130 training aircraft have been delivered since 2018.

Delivered to Mongolia look very battered. Camouflage colors are different on each aircraft: lightgrey background with irregular shapes lightgreen, green or lightcyan.
