MiG-29SMT episode

Contract for delivery of 40 (or 34) MiG-29SMT and upgraded MiG-29UB (with option for next 30) was signed in March 2006. After delivery of first aircraft in December 2006, AAF discover that MiG not meet contract conditions - althrough aircraft was new, airframe is from Russian manufacturer store. Deliveries was stopped, and when in May 2007 next two delivered MiGs were in the same state, Algeria refused to pay. So Russia not started deliveries of Sukhoi Su-30MKA. Algeria canceled contract for MiG-29 (May 2007), wants to exchange it for Sukhois or MiGs with new airframes. 15 MiGs delivered between December 2006 and May 2007) were returned to Russia and since 2009 are in service of the Russian Air Force.

Embarassing episode: MiG-29SMT, 2007, Algeria. Upgraded MiGs-UB and SMT were in two-tone camouflage (grey and blue), similar to Algerian Su-30MKA.
In 2008 returned to Russia.
